Lot description
1 f. (40 x 70 cm), on vellum, in French (seal missing, tiny holes).
The dijckgrave (or dyckgrave) general was in charge of the management of the levees in the county of Flanders. The appointment was 600 guilders per year. Countersigned on verso "de Berty", "N. de Montmorency", "Stercke". Jan van Haecht was involved i.a. in the administration of the complex of polders created by the Archdukes to combat the recurrent floods of the late 16th century.
