18th-c. gilt calf, covers with gilt orn. border and corner pieces, gilt spine with morocco label, red edges, marbled endpapers (rubbed). Very good copy.

Only edition of this charming emblem book by the Jesuit Neo-Latin poet Willem van Hees (1601-1690), designer of St Michael’s Church at Leuven. The 116 woodcut illustrations by J.C. Jegher after E. Quellinus depict musical instruments, angels, etc. Woodcut ornament on title. Mark at end.
