One of the re-editions (1st 1771) of this curious medical study of nymphomania by the French physician J.B.L. de Thesacq, alias Bienville (1726-1813), active in the Dutch Republic. It contains a lot of anecdotes about the moral disorders caused by this "disease" and all mental illnesses during which the subjects manifest erotic ideas or a tendency to masturbation. Devoted to the female anatomy, to the definition of the disease, its origin, consequences, degrees and symptoms, it ends with observations on the imagination in relation to nymphomania and with some indications of remedies.
