8vo: xxiv-242-4 pp.; 14 pl. (some spotting and browning).
Contemp. calf (rebacked), flat spine, red leather title label, endpapers renewed.
Later edition (first 1766) by the English instrument maker to George III of England and science writer G. Adams the Elder (1720-1773). Ill. with 14 full-page or folding engr. plates showing orbits of the planets and their moons, eclipses, the solstice, equinoxes, and other astronomical phenomena. Adams wrote this treatise on the use of globes to accompany two new pairs of globes which he had made. The globes were "of a construction new and peculiar, being contrived to solve the various phenomena on the earth and heavens, in a more easy and natural manner than any hitherto published".
