Beschrijving lot
Folio: [24, incl. engr. title]-389 [i.e. 405]-[26] pp.; 17 + 1 additional pl. (repaired margins, portrait of Philip II underlaid, damp stains, brown stains, ms. notes).
18th-c. calf, gilt ornamented spine with raised bands, flat covers (some scratches, traces of use).
1st edition of the French translation by François Flory and published in the same year of the original Italian edition. All the woodcuts and the copper engr. map of the Netherlands are present and come from the original Italian edition. The engraving of Antwerp city hall which is often missing is here replaced by a 17th-c. ed. (4th st.). The plate of Saint-Omer (2nd st.) from a later edition is added. Further illustrated with 2 front. incl. the coat of arms and the portrait of Philip II.
