Contemp. calf (corners sl. bumped and rubbed), gilt orn. spine with 4 raised bands (joints rubbed, def. at head, tail and title label), sp. edges.

Rare Dutch translation of two interrelated devotional works by the Brabant Jesuit Fr. Costerus (1532-1619), earlier published in Latin by Chr. Plantin in 1587 (Voet 1051 & 1045). The "Vijftich meditatien" were published in 2 issues. A number of copies (not ours) have an additional 50 numb. etchings (Imhof). Woodcut ill. on titles. Printed in gothic type.
