Engraved by the German-Dutch engraver Pieter Schenk (1661-1711) apprenticed to his brother-in-law Gerard Valk with whom he worked closely from 1680 on. In 1694 they acquired the copperplates to Johannes Janssonius' Atlas Novus and began to produce maps.
