Sixth Plantin ed. of the major emblem book of Alciatus (1492-1550), the 3rd ed. edited and commented by Claude Mignault (1536-1606), prof. in canonic law at Paris. Illustrated with 196 (on 197) woodcut emblems within typographical border of fleurons and 14 woodcuts of trees. All woodblocks are of larger dimensions than the ones in the previous ed., and were cut especially for this publication.
