Rare only edition of Liceti's reply to the critics, especially from the Portuguese doctor and Professor at Pisa S. Rodriguez de Castro, against his work "De his, qui diu vivunt sine alimento" (1612), a collection of long-term examples of fasting. The Italian physician and philosopher Liceti (1577-1657) was Professor of Philosophy at the University of Padua and later at the University of Bologna. In 1645, he went back to Padua where he was named Professor of theorical medicine. He was friend with Galilei, his colleague in Padua and he was a member of the Accademia dei Ricovrati or Accademia Galileiana. Printer's mark on title.
