Contemp. calf (corners sl. rubbed), gilt orn. spine on 5 raised bands (joints splitting, def. at head and tail), red edges, marbled endpapers.

Later edition (first 1671) by the renowned man-midwife and surgeon of Marie-Thérèse, Cosme Viardel. Ill. with 16 remarkable engr. pl. (of which 2 fold.) showing the different manoeuvres when a patient is in labour. Though his work was severely judged by Mauriceau, some interesting observations such as an aversion to the "murderous obstetrical instruments" that were (ab)used at the time can be noticed.
