Third edition (1st ed.: 1874) of this work gathering mural paintings and mosaics from Pompeii. Illustrated with a dedication leaf and 30 chromolithographed plates by Victor Steeger. The lithographer V. Steeger worked for years under the direction of the archaeologist Giuseppe Fiorelli who helped in preserving the city of Pompeii.
