Sewn, colour ill. blue cloth, flat spine. In very good condition.

Very early and interesting roadbook describing 100 tourist routes for automobiles through Belgium, Europe and North Africa, by Baron Pierre de Crawhez (Gosselies 1874-1925 Brussels), as such a predecessor of the Guides Michelin, GPS and Google Maps. De Crawhez was a famous Belgian racing driver and pioneer in organizing automobile races and rallies on closed circuits (a.o. Circuit des Ardennes). He founded the Automobile Club de Namur et Luxembourg (A.C.N.L., °1902), that had its headquarters at the Café Regina in Brussels, close to Porte de Namur. De Crawhez was also a passionate traveller in the Belgian Ardennes, the Alps and North Africa. All this came together in this roadbook, with 100 route descriptions such as "Bruxelles-Namur-Bouillon", "Paris à Interlaken et le lac Léman", "Alger à Tunis", and "Paris-Berlin-St-Pétersbourg". Each route with all the junctions and the towns to take or pass through, hotels, tourist curiosities, altitudes and kilometres. With a preliminary part on "Tourisme automobile" in different countries, many interesting photogr. ill. and contemp. adverts for tyres, cars, garages, hotels, ... Ill. with a nice col. ill. title (the same as on the front cover). With loose large folding map showing all the itineraries (some sm. tears in the folds).
