10 vol., 4to (n.c., some foxing, marg. stain to vol. II, tear repaired to pp. 129-130 of vol. X).
Contemp. three-quarter sheep, sprinkled paper covers, spines with raised bands, spr. edges (covers and edges rubbed, lacks to some heads or tails, front joint of vol. III partly split, most of corners bumped).
First edition of this work of Rapin de Thoyras, French Protestant (1661-1725) exiled in England and then in Holland. It was continued after his death by David Durand until the death of William III. The last volume contains a general chronology and the tables. Illustrated with 1 frontispiece, 1 armorial headpiece at dedication, 23 historical headpieces, 5 folding maps, 7 medallion portraits, 11 fold. genealogical tables, 1 fold. table, 10 identical title vignettes and 5 orn. tailpieces.
