2 works in 1 sm. folio: [front.-6]-212-[4], 55-[3] pp. (min. spotting on some pl., waterstaining in the margins of some lvs).
Contemp. vellum, flat gilt titled spine, red edges.
Later edition of these splendid works on insects, snakes and dragons, being two parts of "Historiae Naturalis" but each complete in itself, by the Polish polyhistor J. Jonston (1603-1675). Ill. with an engr. front. (other ed.), engr. title vign. and 40 engr. full-page pl. (28, 12) by Merian showing butterflies, beetles, seahorses, vipers, dragons and dragonlike mythical creatures. Title in red and black.
