Red morocco, gilt ruled border on covers with elaborated corners, gilt arms on covers (Imperial coat-of arms on upper cover and these of Ghent on lower cover), gilt spine with 6 raised bands (worn, some minor defects, some cuts). Overall an exceptional and nice copy.

First edition of this work on Maria Theresa's inauguration as countess of Flanders at Ghent. Ill. with an engr. front. depicting Maria Theresa by Frans Pilsen after the painting of Philips Charles Marissal and a very large folding plate by Pilsen, based on the architectural works by the Ghent architect David 't Kindt, showing a general view of the ceremony conducted on an elaborate stage built at the Vrijdagmarkt. Title printed in red & black.
