3 vols, large folio: [36]-394-[8], [2]-416-[9], [2]-470-[13] pp.; 246 pls (browning and foxing, waterstain on first lvs and repaired tear on title in pt. 1).
Contemp. marbled brown sheepskin, gilt decorated spines on raised bands, red edges (very used, split joints, lacks of leather on turn-ins, cuts and corners).
Second, more complete edition (1st ed.: 1641-1644) of the most important topographical work on Flanders by Sanderus (1586-1664). Engr. ills by J. Harrewyn en Blokhuysen: 90 portraits (64, 26), 18 maps (4, 3, 11; map of "Episcopatus Brugensis" lacking in pt. 2), and 138 plates, many of them with 2 figures, representing city maps and views of towns, villages, abbeys, castles, monuments in Flanders; 17 engravings in texto: 3 title-vign. by D. Coster, coat of arms of H.J. van Susteren, other views and plan, 1 coat of arms. Among the engraved town views are those of Ghent, Nieuwpoort, Bruges and Ypres. Titles in red & black. Ref.
