Rare second edition (1st ed.: 1835) of this theoretical and practical work on gardens by the French architect Vergnaud (1794-1848). Illustrated with 24 lithographed plates, 5 on double pp. and 1 fold., nicely hand-coloured and partly heightened with arabic gum figuring Chatsworth, Slowe, Beauregard, the gardens of the Palazzo Pitti, Wilton house, etc. Four of them with hinged overlays giving suggested improvements.
