1st French translation by André-Jean-Marie Brochant de Villiers of "Försök till ett rent kemiskt Mineralsystem" (1815) of the Swedish chemist and mineralogist Berzelius (1779-1948), also based on the 1st "Försök" published in 1814, and incorporating new information supplied by the author. Berzelius's mineral classification system was based upon the electropositive element. "Whereas the "Försök" published in 1814 was a mere outline, the present title expands the theory to a full mineralogical classification" (Schuh). The work was also translated into German and Spanish but this French ed. "was a tremendous improvement over the other translations, and it is the definitive statement of Berzelius' chemical mineralogical classification" (id.). Ref. Schuh 537. - Bn-Opale plus. - COPAC.
