Pencil, black ink, watercolour, white gouache, goldpaint, 85,7 x 42,0 cm, wove paper, signed, ms. note by Charles Sluyts (browned unevenly).
Laid down on cardboard. Loose with former frame.
Beautiful fan conceived as an album amicorum for an unidentified lady, probably produced in the art colony of Veere in Zeeland. The drawings (some Japanese influenced) incl. a woman picking flowers by Jacques Doré (1861-1929), a woman seated next to a cradle by Leo Van Aken (1857-1904), two fishermen's wives on the seaside by Francis Nys (1863-1900), two women and a crane with flowers by Charles Doudelet (1961-1938), and harvesters near a town with flowers by Karl Meunier (1864-1894). Accompanied by a ms. text "Les cygnes" from "L'appel du voix" by Charles Sluyts.
