Rare atlas to an important comparative anatomical work by P. Camper (1722-1789), Dutch physician, anatomist, zoologist and palaeontologist. Ill. with 1 portrait done in stipple by B. Roger and 34 copper-engr. by E. Picquenot and R. Vinkeles (some pl. unsigned) after Camper's designs, figuring i.a. apes, rhinoceros, elephant, deers, horses etc. A curious plate illustrates the author's original approach with juxtaposition of a human and a horse.
