Chromolithograph with gold paint, 32,0 x 50,0 cm (image), stone signed, dated and located (marg. tears and soiling).
Laid down on Japan paper.
One of the 1st color prints by the Belgian artist influenced by Japanese art and Hokusai's famous “The Great Wave off Kanagawa” (one of 36 views of Mount Fuji). Typically Art Nouveau and “magnificently Symbolist” (Schoonbroodt), this print inspired 2 stained-glass windows, one of which still adorns the dining room of architect Paul Saintenoy's mansion in Ixelles; the other was rediscovered a few years ago by a Brussels antique dealer. “A masterpiece if ever there was one, it underlines the full artistic maturity of a Livemont at the height of his fame and graphic production” (Ibid.).
