First edition of this work compiled by lady Sophia, widow of Thomas Raffles (1781-1826), best known as the founder of the city of Singapore. Our copy is illustrated with the portrait of Raffles as front. and 10 plates among which a fold. map of the Indian archipelago, a fold. chart of Caloonbyan harbour and a fold. sketch of Singapore. Beside the memoirs, this work contains also correspondence of Raffles and a catalogue of zoological specimens.
