2 vol., 4to: 30-5/6-1/698-8-[2], 525-[2] pp.; 33 pl. (pp. 5-6 and 1 pl. from vol. II bound in vol. I, foxing).
Contemp. calf, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, red spr. edges (rebacked, edges and corners repaired, sl. rubbed).
Second edition (1st 1676) of these famous travel accounts by the French pioneer and traveller Tavernier (1605-1689). He brought many gems and information back from the Asian countries he visited, earning him the title of Baron of Aubonne. Illustrated with 33 plates, most fold., depicting plans of cities, writings, coins, diamonds, animals, etc.
