Large and vibrant portrait by Barthélemy Vieillevoye (1798-1855), the first director of the Académie royale des beaux-arts de Liège. Pierre Lys (1779-1849) was a notary in Verviers, a founding member of the Masonic lodge Les Philadelphes, and a liberal member of parliament from 1839 to 1848.
