First edition of the account by the diplomat and East India Company officer Kirkpatrick (1754-1812), who undertook one of the earliest western expeditions to Nepal. For many years, this work was the only reference work on Nepal. Ill. with a large title-vignette depicting the sceptre of Indra, a large fold. map and 14 pl., incl. some portraits, some signed P. Condé, J. Greig or J. Storer after A.W. Devis.
