Letters, postcards, drawings, chromos, clippings etc. with English captions and French translations.

Obl. 4o album (edges frayed).

Album from an exchange project in 1926 between pupils of Grade 7 in the Lemoyne High School in Pennsylvania and "dear friends across the Ocean" via the Junior Red Cross. In the accompanying letter - "the first attempt at correspondance" - the pupils of the high school explain they want to try to give an idea of the town they live in and their state Pennsylvania, moreover the importance the state had in the history of the country and its independence, at that moment 150 years ago. In the letter it is clear the pupils were eager to also learn more about the beautiful country of the correspondent. Album containing letters, postcards, chromos, map drawings, a short history of Pennsylvania explaining its geography and name, sections on Hershey and the Hershey Company, one of the largest chocolate manufacturers in the world headquartered in Hershey, on Gettysburg, on the counties of Pennsylvania, on one of the many state industries: lumbering, on boy scouts with an accompanying letter "we go on hikes, picnics; and in summer we go out camping and it is real fun" and some photos of one of their walks, on natureto end with an arts section. Contributions by Ruth Wierma, Winifred E. Adams, Leotha Hummel, Caroline Myers, Dorothy Sutton, Lucinda Snell, Edgar Frazer, Gereld Leon Tawney, John Bowman, etc.
