Set of 3 synoptic figures, closely after the "colossal kings", from Mattheus Seutter's "Atlas Novus". These allegorical portraits are in fact the embodiment of a historical timeline. As son in law, Lotter took over Seutter's business in 1756. 1. Icon Synoptica Sac[ri]. Rom[ani]. Imp[erii]. electorum, ducum, principum. Portrait of a prince-elector, in full robes covered with the name lists of all its rulers, princes, electors, and dukes. - 2. Pontificum Romanorum series chronologica. Portrait of a pope, whose cassock is described with a list of popes, incl. their dates of death. - 3. Statua regum Europaerom P.C.N. nomina continens. Portrait of a Roman emperor, whose armour is described with a list of the rulers of Europe, including their star sign and dates of death.
