Contemp. calf, gilt-ruled rolls frame on boards, gilt-orn. spines with raised bands, gilt sides and inner dentelles, sp. edges (joints rubbed).
First edition of this extensive history of Brabant (615-1623), with special attention to the recent period of the Dutch Revolt, by Haraeus (1550-1632), professor of rhetoric in Douai, later canon at Leuven. Engr. ill.: 2 nice allegoric titles by C. Galle and L. Vorsterman after Rubens and 43 fine full-page portraits of i.a. Dukes of Brabant, Princes of the former Low Countries, and Albert & Isabella. Woodcut printer's mark at the end of vol. 1.
