Etching and engraving with letterpress, 88,6 x 52,7 cm, laid paper, French text (sl. browned, sm. creases and tears, soiled).
Linen backed.
Rare monumental etching on the organisation of a lottery, incl. a portrait of Louis XIV, the supported causes (a hospital, the building of a church, etc.), the officials involved in the organisation, and people with tickets waiting for the result. At the bottom, a depiction of the lottery of St Roch organized in Paris on 10 November 1705, an almanac for the year 1706 in red and black letterpress, and the motivational text "Que nous sommes heureux de ganger un bon lot, Croy moi mon cher ami Gilot, Profitons de la loterie, Passons joyeusement la vie".
