Letter about the programme of a concert of Manchester's famous Hallé Orchestra, in the Free Trade Hall. From 1899 to 1911, the legendary Austro-Hungarian conductor H. Richter (1843-1916) was the main conductor of this orchestra founded in 1858 by the German musician Charles (né Carl) Hallé. G. Behrens (1846-1936), businessman and philanthropist issued from a German family, was the chairman of the Hallé Orchestra Society.
