1. Biskra. 20,3 x 30,0 cm, signed, titled and dated (few spots). On the verso 2 beautiful watercolours representing people under palm trees. - 2. Le Bardo. Casernes de la garde [...]. 20,3 x 30,0 cm, signed, titled and dated (few spots). On the verso rural sketches in watercolour figuring the Jewish market. - 3. Studies of a woman carrying a basket on her head. 17,7 x 26,6 cm, ms. note "MMP", pencil attributed and dated on verso. - 4. Unfolded envelope covered with sketches in pencil or ink. S.d. 25,0 x 16,0 cm (few spots, horiz. and vert. folds). The addresses of the sender and the recipient are written in pen and pencil: Monsieur George Pemba. George Pemba (1912-2001) was a South African artist who travelled to Johannesburg, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, Umtata and Basutoland during the 1940s to portray the locals. He was a pioneer of social realism in South Africa.
