Contemp. boards covered with green paper, flat spine with gilt label, red edges (rubbed, scratches with sm. def.).
Early biography by D. Mallet (1705-1765) of the English philosopher and statesman Francis Bacon (1561-1626), 1st publ. 1740. On M5r-N7r a list of Bacon's works found in the 4-volume London folio ed. of 1740. Engr. with portraits of Bacon and R. Walpole on title. Title in red & black.
