Engr., 47,8 x 65,7 cm, hand-coloured (few spots, mostly marg.).
Hinged at upper edge.
Nicely engraved by J. Baptist after Jan Goeree. With an elaborate allegorical cartouche, depicting the seated figure of Europe, here personified as Cybele wearing a mural crown (her symbol as protector of cities), holding a miniature church. Underneath, a vase with scene of the fable of Europa being carried away by a bull, disguise of Jupiter. Next to it, the godess Athena pointing towards Europa, with a female figure, probably representing arts and sciences. Only 1 publication known: "Le Nouveau Théâtre du Monde ou La Geographie Royale" in 1713. Verso blank.
