Etching, on 3 sheets, together c. 42,5 x 121 cm (few tiny spots, a bit wavy).
Under passe-partout and frame.
Splendid, rare view on Brussels. In the front, scenes of falconry and everyday life. In the left corner, two putti holding a cartouche with the arms of Brabant. In the right corner, Archangel Michael, patron saint of the city, slaying Lucifer. In the middle, a very large, decorative cartouche with a portrait of Philip IV. The city depicted in great deal, with numbers above its important monuments (o.a. Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula, tower of the town hall) corresponding to the legend of the map, and the Sonian Forest at the horizon. Originally part of the very large mural map titled "Bruxella nobilissima Brabantiae civitas ano 1640".
