First and only edition of this critical work by J.E. Doornik (1777-1837) on the colonial government in the Dutch East Indies under the command of Godert der Capellen. Doornik became a physician in Amsterdam and went to the Dutch Indies in 1817 where he became a surgeon in 1820. Afterwards he had his own practice in Batavia, but due to the publication of his "Vrijmoedige gedachten" he had to leave in 1827.
