Second part only of the very rare first Latin translation of the large comprehensive work "Histoire des choses plus memorables advenues tant ez Indes orientales […]" by du Jarric (1566-1617). Unable to become a missionary himself, du Jarric wrote this extensive travelogue recounting the Jesuit missions in the East Indies and other countries within the Portuguese sphere of interest based on the stories of his peers. Renowned for its detailed and elaborate information on the colonial and missionary activities of the Jesuits, this work became even more popular after this Latin translation by Martino Martinez III. This 2nd parts focuses on a.o. Africa, Brasil, India (Mughal Empire) and the Kingdom of China. With a dedication to the French king Louis XIII, du Jarric tried to persuade him to imitate the colonial efforts of Spain and Portugal.
