Engr. ills: 49 (of 50) engr. portraits + 1 allegorical plate by Hendrick Hondius. Names included: Hus, Savonarola, Erasmus, Luther, Melanchthon, Zwingli, Knox, Calvin, Marnix, Bullinger, Beza, etc. Hondius (1573-1650) was one of the Netherlands’ greatest engravers and the early development of his own style can here be seen.
