Very rare first Dutch translation (1st French 1666), by J.H. Glazemaker, of this detailed account of the voyage from France to the Far East by Jacques de Bourges (c. 1634-1714), companion of Pierre Lambert de La Motte, French bishop of Beirut, during their missions in Asia. Leaving Marseille in 1660, they passed through the Mediterranean and the Holy Land, before reaching India, Thailand and finally China. Glazemaker added some notes on several cities to the already detailed description of the people and costums by Bourges. Ill. with printer's woodcut device on title and 8 large copper-engr. in-text ill.
