Contemp. three-quarter red sheep, marbled paper on boards, silver-orn. spine with raised bands, orig. wrappers pres. (label missing replaced by handwritten title, some rubbing on boards). Very good inside.

Nice edition (1st Brussels [i.e. Amsterdam], 1889) of this story of a young officer's pleasures in India, ascribed by Mendes to C.H. Ricketts, retired Major of the Fith Cavalry (Madras). Printed on yellow paper, titles in red and black.
