Title, table of contents, 20 etchings, 17,7 x 7,5 to 31,5 x 49,0 cm, Chine collé on wove paper, plate signed (some marg. spots and damp stains, few sm. tears on edges, some edges sl. browned).

Karl Bodmer (1809-1893) was a Swiss-born French artist who traveled North America with the prince Maximilian zu Wied-Neuwied in 1832-1834. There, he painted his observations of Native Americans and nature. On his return, he maintained relations with the Barbizon school. Complete set from a limited ed. of 250 numb. copies (n. 74). Incl. a burial site of the Assiniboine tribe and various animals in the woods.
