Portrait of the Austrian paleontologist and evolutionary biologist Othenio Abel (1875-1946). With a dedication "seinem lieben freunde Louis Dollo in alter Treue, Wien, den 6. februar 1925". Together with Belgian paleontologist Dollo (1857-1931) Abel established the principles of paleobiology by combining the methods and findings of the natural science biology with the methods and findings of the earth science paleontology.
