Copper engr., 41,3 x 56,1 cm (trimmed to the border, sl. toned, few sm. brown spots in upper left corner, split fold at the bottom repaired on verso).
Hinged at upper edge. Under passe-partout.
First state of one of the earliest maps by Blaeu. Oldest folio map of France with decorative borders on 3 sides: at the top an oval portrait of the dauphin Louis and 8 town views or plans (o.a. Paris and Marseille), at both sides the portraits of Henry IV and Maria de' Medici, 6 French costumed figures and 2 more town views (Angers and Bourges). Large decorative title cartouche. Verso blank.
