4to: [8, engr. title incl.]-216 ff. (light marginal dampstain and some staining, t.-p. underlaid, wormhole in a few bottom margins, margins of f. 142 fold, bottom margin of f. 143 short). Inside a good copy.
19th-c. blue paper, flat spine, red sprinkled edges (rubbed, corners bumped).
Illustrated with a Renaissance border on title-page, a woodcut representing a funerary urn with the portraits of Laura and Petrarca, a full-page map of Vaucluse, 6 vignettes at the beginning of each Triumphs, historiated initials and Giolito's mark (on title and colophon). The 1st ed. with Vellutello's commentary was published in 1540. Copy with three sonnets against the Court of Rome censored with ink on ff. 142-143-147 (on f. 142, text restored by hand in bottom margin). Ref. Edit16 27036. - Adams P-819. - STC Italian 505. Prov.
