Very rare Leiden ed. of the French adaptation by Jean Le Lorrain of the "Historisch verhael (...)" (Amst. 1679) by the prolific journalist Simon de Vries (1628-178). This hostile "biography" of the Münster bishop and military commander Christoph Bernhard von Galen (1606-1678) appeared in a number of Amsterdam and fictitious or pirated editions 1679-1681. The present ed. differs from the Leiden 1679 ed. of Jean Mortier (STCN 840135491: 248 pp.), which happens to be the only publication by "Jean Mortier" in the STCN.
