Beschrijving lot
Born in Brussels, P. Gilson (1865-1942) was a prolific composer, professor at the Brussels and Antwerp Conservatories, then inspector of music education. 1. 1 p., 12mo (marg. spotting and foxing, folds and min. tears, pencil note on verso). About his oratorio "Francesca de Rimini", created in 1892: "Merci encore et de tout coeur pour l'appui précieux [...] lors de la mise sur pied de cette encombrante Francesca [...]". - 2-3. "J'ai l'honneur de vous annoncer que j'ai été [...] proposé aux fonctions de prof. d'harmonie au Conservatoire de Bruxelles [...]; ironic message about the ""chevaux de retour" [students?] [...]. A ces piteux coursiers, il suffit [...] d'une idée générale "sur" l'harmonie [...]". G. Huberti (1843-1910), Belgian composer, i.a. professor of harmony at the Brussels Conservatory.
