Mod. calf, decorative endpapers, red sp. edges (sl. rubbed, some scratches on covers). Overall excellent, text in mint condition.

Collection of letters and polemical writings of St. Ambrose of Milan (340-397), mainly on the Church politics of Emperor Theodosius I (347-395).
Illustration: rubricated headings or titles; two- and three-line initials in red and blue; initial f. 1r with a nine-line gilt initial "P" with blue and red penwork extending into the inner margin; inner margin of f. 1r decorated in red and green with nice small strawberries.
