Rare and interesting early Dutch textbook of fortification ("bolewercken" and "redoutte"), with numerous calculations of examples and with detailed instructions (e.g. "Stelt u instrument int centrum vande figure …"). The use of Dutch and the detailed calculations could point to the circle of Simon Stevin (1548-1620), mathematician and engineer, acting as military advisor of Maurice of Nassau (1567-1625).
