Decorative double hemisphere wall map with the latest discoveries, dedicated to the Dauphin who never became king (Louis died before his father and his son became king Louis XV). Illustrated with his coat of arms incl. the 2 dolphins, cherubs riding dolphins and two large mermen. Jaillot's map was published in a number of similiarly-sized plates and states. This copy is the 1st state of plate 4, not signed by the engraver Cordier and newly engraved for the "Atlas Nouveau" of 1691.
