Etchings, ca. 45,3 x 60,2 cm, laid paper with unidentified watermark, signature and address in lower margin: "Annibal Carraccius pinx. in AEdibus farnesianis / Io. Iacob. de Ribeis formis Romae ad Templ. S. Mariae de Pace cu(m) Priv. S. Pont. / Petrus Aquila delin. et sculp.", Latin text and numbered in lower margin (few sm. tears on edges).
Good, later impressions with wide margins.
N. 1, 3, 5, 10 from a series by Pietro Aquila (1650-1692) after the monumental fresco cycle by Annibale Carracci (1560-1609) from 1597-1608 in the Palazzo Farnese in Rome. The depicted ceiling paintings are Polyphemus & Galatea, Polyphemus & Acis, Jupiter & Juno, and Hercules & Iole.
