Rare work on anatomical drawing as a guideline for art students. Richly ill. with 24 crayon-manner engravings by various artists. Lafitte (Paris 1770-1828) was a French painter, designer, illustrator and muralist. He studied with Gilles Demarteau and Jean-Baptiste Regnault. Later he was admitted to the Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture. In 1791, he won Prix de Rome for his painting of Regulus returning to Carthage and became the last painter sent to Rome during the reign of Louis XVI.
